Routes to Higher Education
Your child’s decision on higher education and university will be personal to them. Whatever they decide to do, the important thing is that they pick a qualification or career that interests them.
In South Yorkshire there are several higher education providers. Higher level qualifications are available at universities, but they are also available at a number of colleges. There are benefits to studying at both types of institution and it’s important to consider what would suits your child. Did you know?

Higher Degree Apprenticeships
Higher Degree Apprenticeships (HDA) have been embraced by universities and employers nationwide- however there is still a lack of understanding from parents/carers about the pathway routes into degree apprenticeships and their long term benefits. We also know from our research that this is true for many Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) young people and their parents/carers
Therefore in partnership with The University of Sheffield, HeppSY organised a trip for young BAME students to visit the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre to find out more about degree apprenticeships. The aim of the trip was to help young people gain knowledge into what it is like to be an Engineering Apprentice, and feel more confident about their post-16 choices and pathways when considering degree apprenticeships as a higher education option.
