Virtual HE Week at The Sheffield College
Week commencing 5th October was HE Week at The Sheffield College. In previous years, HeppSY have assisted the college in their preparation for HE week, and this year was no different. Whilst HeppSY have been preparing to launch their new online digital offer, they were approached by the college to deliver a few presentations as part of HE Week.
Sabrina and Will, both based at the college before lockdown as HeppSY Engagement Assistants, were chosen to assist with preparing and delivering the sessions. Over the course of the week they delivered eight presentations together on various aspects of Higher Education looking at study skills, mental wealth and student finance as well the different opportunities available that make up student life.
Assisting during the planning stages by ensuring the HeppSY presentations were accessible for students, the college’s Careers Team were then present in all HeppSY sessions and supported delivery by encouraging students to participate and contributing themselves.
The HeppSY sessions were a huge success, even considering this was the first time Sabrina and Will had presented digitally. Students engaged with the presentations where possible and contributed to discussions with thoughtful and considered responses. The week was an excellent way for HeppSY to showcase their new digital offer and it wouldn’t have been so successful without the support from the careers team, who organised HE Week and made them feel so welcome.
